So I asked my girlfriend if she turns the volume down when she uses my monitor to study. I think you already know the answer! So if sound is not working, check for things like volume on both devices, update firmware, check with your partner : So why the 4 stars instead of 5: On the good side, the device in my opinion is very good and high quality, the mirroring from my S4 was fantastic and lag free, slightly better than the Chromecast!

It does not have a dedicated USB power adapter which means easier to transport and seems to require minimum power because it worked well in my “old” TV USB service port.

Great as a quick cable free solution from my laptop which I use a lot for work as an extended screen. As the image is transmitted directly, no need to connect to Wi-Fi network like the Chromecast, it feels faster and works much better with laptops.

On the not so good side, I don’t think the original price is worth the money, but when the price was halved it was a different story. On 2 different laptops, I noticed a bit more lag than I expected I read lot of people have different lag experiences but the latest firmware seems to have improved it a bit.

I also noticed a bit of blur no it’s not the resolution, nor the monitor, same on TV. I have a Dell UltraSharp monitor! For example the text on the Windows menus seems to be missing a few bits.

A bit of reading confirmed that it may be a limitation of the technology. There may be workarounds or not but I haven’t explored this further. If you use it mainly for work it’s not an issue but if for gaming or movies you may be slightly disappointed. In extended mode, sometimes when transitioning from monitor to laptop it’s like the mouse cursor hits a wall, I have to move it to the other side and then try again. As the USB cable is short I haven’t required it to be long yet , it would have been nice to have an USB extension included in the box, since it does not have a USB power supply and other similar device that are cheaper offer one.

It worked out of the box at home on my Windows 10 laptop. However, my summary is to be very, very careful before buying. Einfacher geht’s nicht. Alles ausprobiert, nichts bringt Abhilfe, weder an einem normalen Laptop noch an meinem Surface.

Translate review to English. I brought this to extend my laptop display to my monitor to save me using a hdmi cable, and this device doesn’t work very well for that purpose. To begin with I was surprised how easy it was to set up and get connected to.

It’s pretty much plug and play, just stick the hdmi in the display, and plug the USB in I used an external adapter as the minister lacks usb ports.

Once connected to the laptop I found the picture quality good enough, but not perfect with the occasional artifact and only slight input lag with the mouse. But after using it for a while I noticed two major problems that makes the device no good for what I want to use it for. Firstly on my laptop I use a Bluetooth mouse, and I found the connection to the display works perfectly fine if you move the mouse around slowly, but if you start being slightly erratic with the mouse it caused the image on the wireless display to have connection problems and jitter.

This itself is slightly annoying, but can be worked around. This second problem is that deal breaker for me though. Using the wireless display caused the CPU usage on my laptop to be way higher than it would be if I just used a hdmi cable. This means that using the display my laptop would both get hotter than it needs to not good during the summer months , and also drain the battery way quicker than normal. Because of these two problem I’ve very quickly given up on using the device in the way I intended to use it.

Thankfully though it works well at mirroring my phone display, so I can use it or doing that. So in short; not good for extending a PC display, good enough for watching videos on a larger screen without any multitasking.

If you use Windows you can easily extend or duplicate your PC screen or just project to the second screen from the Operating System which is nice. The reason I’m giving 3 stars is because unfortunately the connection is not robust and it doesn’t last for more than 20 min without me having to manually reconnect it again.

Also although the range of the connection is quite reasonable sometimes I stream from my Surface Pro 4 to my TV almost 3 meters away , the transmission stops if you move the computer or streaming device too much.

For such an expensive adapter I would expect much more quality, this rather resembles a prototype and not a seriously tested product.

Now they can watch their videos and such on the big screen without any problems. The best part about this adapter is it does not require a home wifi network – all of the other adapters I bought did, only for the purpose of trying to sell you paid content on their devices..

These devices communicate wirelessly with the phone and adapter, they create a “bridge” of sorts. The other devices simply wanted to sell you rentable movies and TV shows to continue making money off of you, which is just rediculous.

Highly recommend this simple adapter and am going to get one for myself to use with my Note 8. You can wirelessly project the screen, including video it also transmits sound!!

The USB part, well, you actually don’t need to plug it into the same device you’re projecting to. The USB is for power – you can use a mobile phone portable charger and it can power the projection!

I’m going to be using this to project to my students I’m a teacher and will be using it with the drawing capabilities of my Surface Book 2.

Much better than a wired connection. I can walk around the class and check peoples’ work, while also displaying things on screen! This dongle works fine for my Android cellphones and a friend’s Windows 8. Unfortunately, it does not work on my Surface Pro 4, running Windows I am frustrated that a Microsoft-made hardware dongle does not work on Microsoft-made hardware that’s running Microsoft-made software, when it works perfectly well with an LG-made cellphone running Google-made software.

I cannot recommend purchasing this until Microsoft can fix the problems preventing Windows 10 from properly connecting to their own hardware. I don’t know why others have had so many problems with this adapter, it almost made me not want to try it out but I am glad I did because it is everything I expected and wanted!

I have used this both with my TV and my projector, and they both worked great. There was zero hassle in setting it up or connecting – it just worked using with my Surface Book 2. Some reviewers mentioned having to be very close to the adapter to make it work, but I have not experienced this problem. I’ve used it more than 10 feet away and it works great. Very little lag and picture quality is good.

A little disappointing that it can only do p max resolution. I thought it would be able to do 4K but that’s not the case.

The only issue I experienced was trying to update the firmware. It failed several times, and this was the only time where being close to the adapter seemed to alleviate the issue and I could successfully finish updating the firmware. See all reviews. It’s one of the only devices in the market that offer completely screen mirroring for youre pc, tablet and phone. I’ve used it with the surface pro 3, galaxy s7 and the note 3, all work flawlessly. There is an ever so slight lag, but not enough to actually make it a problem. On the most part it is flawless. Report abuse. I thought of going wireless with my desktop setup. I got wireless mouse and keyboard and works quite well.

Then I thought of getting wireless display adapter so I can connect to monitor without hdmi cables. Drawbacks 1. My monitors had no usb port in order to give power supply to this adapter, so needed extra wires to give power supply to this adapter :- 2.

The laptop needs to be kept open initially as you have to manually connect by going to windows 10 setting. No option of auto connect on PC restarts. Felt like bit of an headache with docking station, every time turn on laptop open the laptop, connect with monitor, close laptop and so on. So with programming , the mouse was bit lagging. Also typing was bit delayed in the IDE. Works well with TV, 1. So I decided to drop it from monitor and used it for TV.

TV had a usb port so it fit well, as hdmi and usb port are next to each other. I am able to connect laptop to TV now wirelessely, and watch youtube, prime or netflix. Works fine without any lags, also sound is transmitted by default to TV. One person found this helpful. Quite Satisfied.

Works as expected. Had intermittent issues with connecting from a my Dell purchase running Windows 10 Pro but was resolved after restart of the adapter and the laptop. It can be powered using a battery bank. Please note that on both laptop and mobile Wi-Fi adapter should be enabled i. I will definitely recommend the product. I bought this for my office. Packaging was damaged. But product was pristine. If your Windows 10 PC fails to miracast, the first thing you should look into is whether your PC supports the feature.

Miracast is a standard for wireless connections from the sending device to the display device. So in order to miracast, you should make sure that both your devices are connected to the same WiFi network i.

Select Projection settings from the result. Your Miracast not working problem is probably being caused by driver issues — you may have the wrong, outdated or corrupt device drivers on your computer. So you should update your device drivers to see if it fixes your problem. Driver Easy will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers for it.

Driver Easy takes care of it all. But with the Pro version it takes just 2 steps and you get full support and a day money back guarantee :. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status.

I do not have WiFi. Streaming both Amazon Prime Video, HBO, and Netflix using mobile data, I have no issues whatsoever in lag, watching all movies and series on the big screen right out of the box. Setup and configuration could not have been simpler. It worked the first time, and continues to work flawlessly. I just got this a few days ago and have already logged 15 hrs of casting without issue using the aforementioned configuration.

Very happy. Wow, this works with both my windows computer and my Android. I use the adapter send my Zoom meetings to a projector so I can have a inch screen. No cables, seamless functionality and best of all the audio is in sync with the video. Great Microsoft product. Using it now with the latest Windows 10 update. Nice out of box experience. Even Microsoft’s easily accessible phone support was not able to help me utilize all 5 speakers, before I got the Wireless Adapter.

But once I got the Wireless Adapter, the 3 other speakers including the woofer , started working like magic! I installed the Windows 10 update two days ago and I was worried, because it seemed like it was taking too long for the flat-screen TV to connect.

With my approval, the Tech Rep took a look -remotely-and it looked fine. I would highly recommend this product and thank Microsoft for their excellent and easily accessible Tech Support! For Windows10 search ‘connect to wireless display’ or if using a laptop it most likely has a function key that looks like a monitor for choosing projectors or secondary displays. Either way there is a ‘connect to wireless display’ button, hit that and wait a few seconds and you’ll see your TV show up on the list.

Click on it and another few seconds you’ll have a 2nd display that can be used as a clone, an extension, or as the sole display. I’ve had no issues with lag, drop out, audio glitches, or anything else negative. Just a smooth extended monitor. I have not tested range, however, as I use mine within feet of the receiver. Baker shared account. Screen mirroring tools from Android mobile devices run a pretty big gamut, but if you’re looking for an easy to use, reliable device with a quality picture, there’s not really anywhere else to go but here.

Excellent full screen projection, high quality reciever, and a vivid, colorful display. I will be thinking twice about getting any other product in the future. This can’t get much easier using windows 10, just click on notification bottom right, navigate to connect, find the labeled wireless display adapter that’s hooked up to the big screen tv and BAM your in business. This device makes life easier instead of seeking longer hdmi cables, or standing next to the tv when showing something to friends, family or even at work.

Well worth the price, buy this now to alleviate connection headaches. Wanted to add another monitor but no free physical display port. This product allows me to add a 3rd monitor via wireless.

At first I was disappointed as the mouse was slow but found if I changed the setting from gaming to work on the adapter and that fixed the problem. This solved my problem. Would recommend. Only thing I wish was the USB cable on the device was a longer but no big deal. Surprisingly good!

Works so well. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. Translate all reviews to English. NOTE: This is an updated review after testing the device in more detail. For the ones who are wondering I had the same questions before I bought them , although there are similarities, all these products have significant differences due to their underlying technology standards.

You will hear of terms such as Miracast, WiDi, etc. Also, entry levels smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy J5 won’t work with it so it is advisable to check online if it works. It is basically a “wireless HDMI cable”. It works by default in Windows 10, if using earlier versions you may need some Intel software.

Setup wasn’t that complicated. Strongly suggest using a Windows 10 laptop for the initial setup and downloading the Wireless Display Adapter app from the store.

After connecting to the device, check for firmware upgrades and upgrade the firmware. To connect to it using Windows 10, use the Connect icon on the Action Centre in the taskbar. Funny and true story A few days later I tried to mirror my Galaxy S4 screen to the same monitor but no sound. Then I went on to do something else and later discovered the sound on the monitor was super low not mute , so I tought I need to try phone again. A few weeks later, tried phone again, same issue. Then a light switched on my brain, checked and the sound on the monitor was super low again.

So I asked my girlfriend if she turns the volume down when she uses my monitor to study. I think you already know the answer! Please try again later. Verified Purchase. It does not cast high resolution video. When you try what shows up on your TV is ‘choppy, jerky’, etc. As far as I can tell no device like this supports p resolution yet. Again, don’t believe the casting ads you see. In general, the smaller, less resolute the video, the more likely it is to cast successfully.

First, place little stock in what advertisements say about casting what you see on your media device or computer to your TV. Setting up ‘Casting’ is not easy, fun, or reliable, but it can be done. To sum up super-simple, you can either get a unit designed for Apple devices, or one designed for Windows devices, or one designed for Android devices, or one that tries to do everything. This device is specifically designed to cast from a recent-version Windows device.

If these are not available and close together, you’ll have some problems setting up. An extender for the USB comes with it, but it is short. The range?

Think in terms of the olden days when we first had ‘portable’ phones. If you walk out of the room, stand by a ‘noise’ source such as a room heater, hair dryer, or Fridge, you may loose the signal. Rule-of-thumb is to be within 20 feet of your TV and don’t move around much.

The setup is easy but no directions come with it except what is displayed on the screen. You’ll need to know how to change the input on your TV to the HDMI port for the unit, and know how to connect to a Miracast device in Windows 10 or on your Windows Miracast enabled phone. Google it. If you cast from a computer, you’ll need the computer wireless connectivity turned on, which it may not be if you use a ‘wired’ connection.

You’ll also need to know how to set your display to ‘Duplicate’ rather than the default, ‘Extend’ mode. You’ll need to remember all this as you may have to remove a nonworking Miracast device and re-add it between uses. For all that, the unit is as advertised. I can cast a perfect media picture from my PC close by to my TV.

It does not work as a second monitor, though, as there is a lag moving my wireless mouse around. That’s part of the ‘art’ of casting. You may have to experiment with different devices to get what you want.

The mouse lag makes using it from the TV screen imposssible. Other mice might work better. My wireless keyboard works perfectly.

Since I got this unit specifically and only to cast media, I’m satisfied now. The negative reviews you see for these casting devices, I’m sure, are due to people not understanding the casting process, buying cheap, expecting too much, or not knowing how to set the units up they all come with lousy directions. Also, like this unit, don’t buy one that requires you to push a button on it to change between modes. Once installed on a TV that isn’t practical. This unit can be controlled from a downloadable Microsoft app, but unless you have a compatible Windows phone, you don’t need anything more than what is in your Windows 10 operating system to set up and control it.

There are cheaper units for casting, and many that claim to support multiple modes Apple, Android, and Windows. Miracast, supported by both Android and Windows, is the most ‘touchy’, which is why I chose a unit specific to my device, a Windows 10 computer.

Not all Miracast units support Windows, or don’t support it well, or are just not that good. My recommendation? Don’t buy cheap. Don’t try to get a unit that says it will do everything. Get one specific to your device, and don’t expect all that is advertised for ‘casting’ from one device to another.

This unit, I highly recommend for people casting from a Windows 10 computer to the TV. I don’t have a Windows phone, and I’m too cheap to ever buy a top-of-the-line phone or tablet that would have the memory and processing power to try this.

My grandparents dont have cable TV nor home internet, only a standard tv antenna and that gets two channels on a good day. This adapter works wonders for them.. It was as easy as plug-n-play to the tv, and activating screen mirroring on the Note 5.
